Bhagavad Gita 15:12:
There is sunlight that fills all the world; there is moonlight and also firelight. Know that all these lights are of one light, which is My light.
Katha Upanishad:
Him the sun does not illumine,
nor the moon,
nor the stars,
nor the lightning
nor, verily, fires kindled upon the earth.
He is the one light that gives light to all.
He, shining, everything shines.
Buddhism
"Consciousness which is non-manifestative,
Endless, lustrous on all sides,
It is here that water, earth,
Fire and air no footing find.
There the stars do not shine,
And the sun spreads not its lustre,
The moon does not appear resplendent there,
And no darkness is to be found there."
Christianity
"No longer will the sun be your light by day, and the brightness of the moon will not shine on you; for the LORD will be your everlasting Light, and your God will be your splendor. Your sun will no longer set, and your moon will not wane; for the LORD will be your everlasting light, and the days of your sorrow will be over."
"I am the Light of the world; he who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life."
"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The eye is the lamp of the body. If your vision is clear, your whole body will be full of light."
Islam
"I wish I could show you, in times of darkness or despair, the incredible Light of your own Being."
"Your Light is more magnificent than sunrise or sunset."
"One day the sun admitted, I am just a shadow: I wish to show you the infinite incandescence!"
Sikkhism
God shines out in His own splendour. His brightness shineth forth with the blaze of splendour, dazzling like the sun.
God is The light of all light.
The light of God illuminates land and seas.
God is The embodiment of light; the lamps of the sun and moon and all their light emanate from Him.
God is pure light … this ever pure light is Infinite, and God Himself Is immaculate and all light.
Hawaiian Traditions
"Bowl of Light".
Each person is born with this light which represents consciousness, love, and one's true essence.
Negative emotions or actions are like putting "stones" in the bowl, which dims the light.
‘Tipping’ the bowl over empties the stones and allows the divine light to shine brightly again.
Aloha
The core value of Aloha relates directly to the divine light within.
Aloha is broken down into Alo (presence, face) and hā (breath).
The spirit of Aloha is considered the "radiating light within".
Jain
Let the whole world be illumined with the divine light of the soul, and the thirst of all be quenched with the nectar of joy.
Festivals of Light:
Diwali/Deepavali: symbolizes victory of light over darkness, good over evil.
Hanukkah: Commemorates the miracle of oil for the Temple menorah, celebrated by lighting the menorah for eight nights.
Vesak/Wesak: Celebrates Buddha's birth, enlightenment, and death with lantern displays and candlelit processions.
Christmas: Uses candles, lights, and trees to celebrate Christ, the "light of the world".
