Rev. Devaja had a successful career as an electrical engineer and computer systems engineer. He also was involved in Volunteer Emergency Response (EMS, Industrial Fire and Rescue) for over twenty years. He was introduced to Integral Yoga in 2001 and became a Yoga teacher in 2003. He now teaches Hatha Yoga, Raja Yoga, and Stress Management. In 2011 he was ordained as an Integral Yoga Minister and currently directs Integral Yoga’s Seminary Training program.
Born in France of US citizens and raised in a small town outside of Boston Massachusetts. After attending University for two years in the Southern part of Maine, Reverend Devaja then moved to Charleston SC, where he married, raised two children, and developed a career as an Electrical Engineer and Computer Systems Engineer. He also was involved in Emergency Response (EMS, Industrial Fire and Rescue) for over 20 years.
Rev Devaja came to know Integral Yoga through a work associate in 2001. Not long after that he made his first trip to India in 2003. Later that year, he completed his Basic Hatha Yoga teacher’s training at Holy Cow Yoga studio in Charleston SC and received Mantra Initiation at Yogaville. Early 2004 found Rev. Devaja living at the San Francisco IY Center, taking on the service as office manager, assisting in teaching Hatha classes and attending many Integral Yoga workshops – including completing Intermediate Teachers Training. Late 2004 found Rev. Devaja settling down at Satchidananda Ashram, which he lived, served and studied there till Sept. 2018). Living at the Ashram has provided many opportunities to attend a wide variety of countless workshops and events, including Raja TT and Laughing Yoga TT, Stress Management TT. Meditation, Pranayama, Mantra, Chanting and Ayurveda workshops. India called him back again in 2006 for a short visit. Rev. Devaja had the very busy role of facilities management for Yogaville from the last 14 years and also serves as a teacher for programs and workshops. In 2011, Rev Devaja was Ordained an Integral Yoga Minister and also serves as one of the Pujaris at the Ashram. Shortly after receiving Ministry Ordination, he was appointed to serve as the Director of IY Seminary program for the IY Ministry. Rev. Devaja strives to live a life of service and dedication in all areas of his life. Rev. Devaja was just recently married and now resides in the UK where he hopes to spend his retirement years serving and teaching Integral Yoga.
